The AEO Connected Visa is for frequent shoppers (more than $350 annually) of American Eagle Outfitters and Aerie. The card offers rewards for purchases made at those stores, as well as on everyday transactions. It differs from the more narrow AEO Connected Credit Card in that you can use it anywhere Visa is accepted. But it still unlocks advantages that are typical to a retailer loyalty program.
Once accepted for the card, you’ll receive certain benefits — some of which are introductory others are ongoing. You can also use it on purchases like groceries and gas, because you’ll receive points for every dollar spent on those transactions, as well. It’s for true fanatics of the American Eagle brands, though, because the reward points can only be redeemed at those stores. It also carries a significant APR, so it’s advised to not carry a balance over from month to month.
New cardholders of the AEO Connected Visa receive 20% off their first purchase at American Eagle Outfitters or Aerie, as well as one Personal Shopping Day a year when you can get 20% off on any day you choose. You’ll get 15 points for every $1 spent at those stores. You will also get 5 points for every $1 spent on regular Visa transactions. Once you reach 2,500 points, you’ll get a $10 certificate. You’ll also get free shipping, as well as item-specific offers (for example, a free pair of jeans after purchasing five pairs of jeans).
Like many store credit cards, there is no annual fee with the AEO Connected Visa card. Once you receive the bonus certificates, you will only have 45 days to redeem them before they expire. Also similar to loyalty cards, it comes with a high APR (which will be variable depending on your creditworthiness, but usually falls around 27%.) There are standard fees for using it as a Visa card, too, like for foreign transactions and cash advances.
When it’s time to pay off the balance for your AEO Connected Visa card, you can do so through its online account management system, provided by Synchrony. In that portal, you can activate a new card, keep tabs on your purchase history, and submit payments.
